Krüss polarimeter
Krüss polarimeters – Precision optical rotation measurement for every laboratory requirement
Krüss polarimeters provide high-accuracy optical rotation measurement for the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as research. The product range extends from standard laboratory solutions to advanced premium systems with temperature control, ensuring that a suitable instrument is available for every application. Depending on the model and software configuration, the instruments support ICUMSA requirements and are also available with 21 CFR Part 11-compliant software, making them suitable for use in GMP environments.
The Krüss polarimeters are available in three main categories:
P3000 series – Standard polarimeters for routine measurements
A reliable and cost-effective solution for conventional laboratory applications. Ideal for daily quality control, teaching or basic optical rotation measurements where stable performance and ease of use are the main priorities.
P8000 series – Versatile polarimeters with a range of temperature-control options
The KRÜSS P8000 series is a reliable and flexible solution for professional polarimetry, covering a wide range of applications from standard laboratory use to high-accuracy quality control. The series is available in several configurations, allowing the laboratory to choose integrated or external temperature control according to its application requirements.
P8000 – basic version
This model is ideal for users who require a reliable, fast and accurate polarimeter but control the sample temperature using an external device, such as a thermostat or water bath. Perfect for routine testing and food- and chemical-industry applications.
P8000-T / P8000-TF – precise sample temperature control by connecting an external thermostat
Temperature control provided by an external circulating thermostat enables precise sample temperature stabilisation, which is particularly important for measurements in the sugar and pharmaceutical industries. The P8000-TF version also offers fully automated functions, supporting fast and hygienic workflows.
P8000-P / P8100-P – Peltier temperature control
The instruments feature integrated Peltier-based sample temperature control, enabling fast, precise and stable temperature conditioning. They are ideal for advanced quality-control tasks in laboratories with higher accuracy requirements, where both temperature and optical rotation measurement accuracy are critical.
P9100 series – Peltier temperature control
Integrated Peltier-based sample temperature control and the advanced optical design provide high measurement stability and accuracy. The system supports validatable measurements in regulated environments, making it an ideal choice for GMP applications, development work and high-accuracy quality-control tasks.

Automation options – optional
Automated sample-handling solutions are available for the instrument, significantly increasing laboratory efficiency and throughput. Optional accessories such as the AS80 / AS90 autosampler enable a fully automated workflow with automatic sample loading, rinsing and drying.
This is particularly beneficial in high-throughput QC laboratories, pharmaceutical environments and settings where fast, clean sample changes are essential.
Krüss polarimeter sample cells – tailored to the measurement task
Krüss offers a wide selection of sample cells for its polarimeters, ensuring that the instrument is always optimally matched to the specific application.
- Standard measurement tubes with different path lengths (100 mm, 200 mm) for routine testing
- Temperature-controlled tubes (jacketed versions connectable to a thermostat) for precise sample temperature control
- Tubes made from chemically resistant materials for aggressive and viscous samples
- Quick-fill / flow-through versions for high-throughput measurements and automated systems
The different sample-cell types make the polarimeter easy to customise for applications ranging from routine measurements in the sugar industry to high-accuracy pharmaceutical applications.
