Applications
The vacuum filtration apparatus is suitable for a wide range of laboratory tasks:
- filtration of solvents before analytical determinations
- purification and preparation of solutions
- degassing of solvents and solvent mixtures
- preparation of HPLC and GC samples
- general laboratory filtration tasks
Membrane compatibility and use
The system can be used with 47 mm diameter membrane filters and supports several membrane types, allowing it to be optimally adapted to the application:
- PES membranes – for filtering buffer solutions, microbiological media, proteins and nucleic acids
- MCE (mixed cellulose ester) – for polar organic samples and aqueous and non-aqueous solutions
- Hydrophobic PTFE – for non-polar, aggressive organic solvents and gas filtration
- Hydrophilic PTFE – for polar solvents (e.g. water, alcohol, acetonitrile)
- Nylon – for aqueous solutions with low extractables content
- PVDF – for filtering alcohols and biomolecules without protein binding
This flexibility allows the same filtration apparatus to be used for a range of analytical and preparative tasks.
